Slavia Prague defender bails out Pedro after horrific miss with bonkers own goal

Reuben Pinder

Chelsea are running riot

Chelsea came firing out the blocks in the first half of their second leg Europa League tie against Slavia Prague, racing into a 2-0 lead within the first 10 minutes.

Pedro opened the scoring with a beautiful team goal after just three minutes. A delicious one-two with captain Cesar Azpilicueta and a delicately weighted through ball from Olivier Giroud put the ball on a plate for Pedro to dink over the opposition goalkeeper, effectively killing the tie.

The second goal came minutes later, as Pedro latched onto an Eden Hazard cross at the far post, though he will not be credited with the goal.

The Spaniard’s shot rattled the post, ricocheting straight into the face of an Simo Deli, the onrushing defender, who saved Pedro of huge embarrassment, scoring an own goal with his face. It was quite the spectacle.

Another goal from Pedro and a fourth from Olivier Giroud before Slavia pulled one back wrapped up the tie before the half-time whistle. You can switch over to the Arsenal game now.
