Will we put this down as a misunderstanding?
Sky Sports’ Gary Cotterill is in Marseille ahead of England’s Group B clash with Russia and the area has been the location of plenty of unseemly scenes over the past day or two.
On Friday night, pockets of violence broke out in the French city and it’s been well documented by a number of journalists on site.
One journalist whose story didn’t go to plan is Cotterill as he approached a French barmaid with the statement: “I know you’re happy to tell us that it wasn’t as bad as it looked.”
Unfortunately, the lady in question’s response wasn’t quite the expected one: “Very bad. Very difficult.”
