Sky Brown makes history as youngest British summer Olympian of all time

Almost a record breaker!

Sky Brown is set to become the youngest British summer Olympian of all time after being named part of Team GB. At just twelve, Brown will journey to Tokyo alongside teammate Bombette Martin who is only fourteen herself. Talk about inspiring.

Brown is currently ranking third in the world despite suffering from a horrendous injury last year. She suffered skull fractures and a broken wrist and hand due to a fall but is ready and rearing to represent her country on the biggest stage of all.

Unfortunately, Brown will not be the youngest athlete ever due to the games moved from last year. Cecilia Colledge was eleven when she represented Team GB at the 1932 Winter Olympics.

But what sport is she competing in you might ask? Brown will compete in the brand new category of skateboarding which is set to begin on July 23rd.

Team GB’s chef de mission Mark England said:

“I couldn’t think of two better athletes to act as ambassadors for Team GB in this exciting new Olympic sport and we wish Sky and Bombette the very best of luck in their final preparations.”
