Sir Rod Stewart calls Roy Keane a ‘bully’ following row with Jamie Carragher

'I admired him as a player but he's a bit of a bully.'

Sir Rod Stewart has criticised Roy Keane for being a 'bully' during his on air row with Jamie Carragher last weekend. Sky Sports pundits Keane and Carragher were involved in a debate about why Manchester United signed Cristiano Ronaldo, with the Portuguese captain being dropped to the bench for the 1-1 draw against Chelsea. Music legend and lifelong Celtic fan Stewart revealed that he watched the live row, later criticising former Bhoys midfielder Keane for being 'far too aggressive' in arguing his point. "I think Roy can be a bit of a bully sometimes," Stewart told talkSPORT on Wednesday. "I admired him as a player but he's a bit of a bully. "I think there's a way of speaking your mind and (then) there's a way of speaking your mind and he's far too aggressive.

"He was an elite player but do you think he could be a good manager with that approach?'

Keane made 10 league appearances for Celtic in the 2005/06 season before ending his playing career, registering one goal and one assist.

As well as arguing with Carragher about the role of Ronaldo, the 50-year-old was also asked whether he would have taken the interim manager's job at United. Keane - who took charge of Sunderland in the Premier League and Ipswich in the Championship - insisted that he would have 'no problem' taking control of a dressing room, but claimed that United were 'never going to call him'. The Irishman also held assistant roles at the Republic of Ireland, Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest in recent years.
