Ratcliffe has already decided who he will appoint as sporting director
Sir Jim Ratcliffe reportedly wishes to appoint Luis Campos as Manchester United’s new sporting director – if he completes a takeover of the Premier League club.
The British billionaire made it known via a spokesperson last month that he would be interested in purchasing United if the Glazer family were open to a sale.
The INEOS owner, who is already in charge of Ligue 1 side Nice, was born in Manchester and was a United fan as a child. Though he was also linked with a move for Chelsea earlier in the year, he is seen as the most likely next owner of his boyhood club if their Glazers decided to cash in.
Though Ratcliffe is yet to make an offer, Le Parisien (via The Express) claim he has already decided that Campos will be appointed at Old Trafford should he complete a deal.
The 58-year-old is currently working in an advisory role with Paris Saint-Germain, but made his name as a director for overseeing the transfers of a host of players at AS Monaco between 2013 and 2016.
He has since held a similar position at Lille before leaving the club after a change in ownership.
The Glazer family have bee under sustained pressure to sell United all year, with fan group The 1958 coordinating a number of protests against them.
The club’s first two games of the new season ended in defeat, the second of which being the 4-0 humbling away to Brentford. Though they have since rallied to win three league games in succession, the upturn in form has not appeased supporters, who continue to demand the Americans now bring an end to their 17-year ownership of the club.
