Allan Saint-Maximin gifts Rolex watch to Newcastle fan after opening day win

Allan Saint-Maximin gifted a Rolex watch to an unsuspecting fan who was waiting to grab a photo and autograph from the player.

The Newcastle United star helped the Magpies to a 2-0 win over over newly promoted Nottingham Forest on Saturday, and made one fan’s day even better after the match as he gave him an expensive watch.

The supporter was waiting for the former OGC Nice man to walk out of the stadium – holding a French flag that had ‘Saint-Maximin’ written across it.

Saint-Maximin shared a video of him gifting the watch to the fan on his Instagram account, which was then reposted on Twitter and other social media platforms.

The lucky supporter – Steve Dutton – who was gifted the watch tweeted about his joy, writing: “I was the person who was gifted the watch from ASM, I was totally speechless.

“I thought he was coming to sign autographs and have pictures taken with the kids. I’m still in shock, I can’t thank @asaintmaximin enough.”

It is not the first time that Saint-Maximin has given away an expensive watch. Last season, the Frenchman got out of his car to give Magpies fan Michael Urwin a TAG Heuer Aquaracer watch.

Mr Urwin, who was at St James’ Park with his three sons to watch the team’s match against Brentford last season, told The Chronicle in November 2021: “For every home game we go down to the entrance where the players take in their cars, just hoping to get a picture or autograph.

“They don’t normally stop these days because of COVID but on Saturday, Allan did. He got out of his car and came over to where I was standing and handed me a box and said ‘This is for you’.

“I was shaking, to be honest with you, but he was pretty excited and was just saying ‘Open it, open it!'”

Newcastle’s next match sees them face off against Brighton and Hove Albion – who began their Premier League campaign with a win over Manchester United at Old Trafford – on August 13.
