Liverpool winger Sadio Mane has said that his side are capable of beating any side in the world ahead of this weekend’s trip to face Manchester United at Old Trafford

Liverpool progressed to the Champions League quarter-finals on Tuesday after advancing past Porto 5-0 on aggregate with Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah all making appearances off the bench for the Reds.

The three have been instrumental for Jurgen Klopp’s side this season and have scored 68 of Liverpool’s 105 goals in all competitions.

Mane said that United are one of the best teams in the world but that Liverpool are capable of beating any club.

“It will not be easy but I’ve always said we can beat any team in the world,” said Mane. “Honestly they (Manchester United) are one of the best teams in England, of course in the world also, but we are as well.

“It’s the dream for every single player to play this kind of game so everyone is looking forward to it.”

Jurgen Klopp started Firmino and Mane, as well as first-team regulars like Jordan Henderson and Emre Can, while bringing leading goalscorer Mohamed Salah off the bench.

Klopp was keen to inject a bit of excitement and he sent on the Egypt international with just over 15 minutes remaining.

When it was put to the German in his post-match press conference that supporters were filled with concern at the sight of Salah given Liverpool’s 5-0 lead on aggegate, he just laughed off the worries.

“It is normal that people think about injuries but that can happen at any time,” Klopp said.

“I told him if he runs a lot he doesn’t have to train tomorrow.”
