Ryan Giggs interview reveals his other favourite team (Video)

As England defeated Fiji in Rugby Union’s World Cup opener at Twickenham, Ryan Giggs was in attendance for a big game in the other code.

St. Helens defeated local rivals Wigan 18-14 at Langtree Park, thanks to a late try from Josh Jones, and the former Wales winger still holds rugby league close to his heart.

Giggs played rugby league up until signing schoolboy terms with Manchester United and clearly maintains a keen interest in the sport.

Interviewed after the game by Sky Sports, the United assistant manager revealed that he had no regrets about opting to pursue a career in football – especially given the physical side of rugby.

“I try to get to as many games as I can, but when you’re live and you can hear the tackles – I picked the right sport,” Giggs confessed.

Giggs had been at the Super 8s as a guest of St. Helens chairman Eamonn McManus, but admitted his rugby league allegiances lay with Wigan.
