Ronaldo has reportedly told his agent, Jorge Mendes, to find him a move away from Manchester United

Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly instructed his agent, Jorge Mendes, to find him a move away from Manchester United after he recently issued an ultimatum to the club.

Ronaldo returned to Old Trafford in the summer, but has found his second spell far tougher than he would have hoped, and is one of the players rumoured to be dissatisfied with the progress made under interim boss Ralf Rangnick.

The German was appointed until the end of the season before taking a two-year consultancy role, but hasn’t ruled out the idea of extending his period on the touchline if needed.

So far United have lost just one game under Rangnick, however performances have barely improved since the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and reports of unrest in the dressing room suggest that as many as 17 players want to leave the club.

United’s top scorer Ronaldo is said to be one of those disgruntled players and has told Mendes to work on finding him a new club should the “erratic” behaviour at the club continue on and off the pitch.

According to Sport, one of the possible destinations could be Barcelona due to Mendes’ strong relationship with their director of football, Mateu Alemany and president Joan Laporta.

Whilst it seems unlikely that such a move would happen – largely due to Barça’s financial troubles and the 36-year-old’s affiliation to Real Madrid – Ronaldo could still choose to depart United after only one season back at the club.

The United forward will be looking to help his side reach the fourth round of the FA Cup on Monday night (January 10) when they face Aston Villa at Old Trafford.
