Roma are reportedly the subject of a bizarre investigation by the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) after an employee illegally confronted referee Rosario Abisso after a match. The Giallorossi recently employed former Serie A referee Gianpaolo Calvarese as an external consultant to help José Mourinho's side deal with officiating and VAR protocol. While his appointment was meant to help prevent refereeing controversy, it seems to have backfired - with Calvarese now thought to be under investigation for an incident in Roma's 0-0 draw with Genoa on February 5. However, the report adds that the FIGC Prosecutor's Office is yet to inform the club about the proceeding. Roma appointed Calvarese - who had been working as a match analyst for Amazon Prime Italia's coverage of the Champions League - after repeatedly complaining about refereeing decisions in the first half to the campaign.
