Just Rojo things…

Former Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo did not hold back while celebrating Boca Juniors’ Professional League Cup win on Sunday, enjoying a cigarette and a beer on the pitch.

Boca defeated Tigre 3-0, with Argentine defender Rojo scoring the opening goal at Estadio Mario Alberto Kempes.

The 32-year-old, who joined in the club last year after spending seven years at Old Trafford, has made 15 appearances for Sebastián Battaglia’s side, scoring two goals.

Following the victory over Tigre at the weekend, Rojo – still in his full kit – enjoyed a pizza and a can of Quilmes beer before smoking a cigarette on the field. He did not appear to be bothered that his actions were inevitably going to be caught on camera.

As per the Mirror, the defender was reprimanded during his time at United for his smoking habit, having been photographed puffing on a cigarette outside a nightclub. Despite this, he went on to post a photo of basketball star Michael Jordan smoking in a social media post, alongside his career honours while with the Chicago Bulls.

Last year, Rojo was banned for five games and fined around £18,300 for his role in a tunnel brawl after Boca Juniors’ controversial Copa Libertadores exit. The Argentine could be seen grabbing a fire extinguisher off a wall as Boca players attempted to enter the Atletico Mineiro dressing room after a match.

He was quickly mocked by former teammate Ander Herrera, who was able to see the funny side of the incident.

An image of the pair was posted to the Spaniard’s Instagram story. In it, he added a fire extinguisher along with a laughing face emoji. He’d also tagged Rojo, too.
