Roberto Soldado reveals reason the reason for his miserable time at Spurs

He just wanted to be loved...

Roberto Soldado’s time in England was miserable.

Arriving from Valencia with a fine goal-scoring reputation, big things were expected of the Spaniard at White Hart Lane.

Clearly, things didn’t work out for Soldado, who is now back in Spain with Villareal.

The striker has now opened up about his time in London and has suggested that the departure of Andre Villas-Boas played a big part in his struggles in a Tottenham shirt.

“I went there with excitement and enthusiasm, thinking that the Premier League offered the perfect football for me,” he is quoted as saying in AS.

“But it was the opposite. After the departure of Villas-Boas, who was the one who signed me, everything was turned upside down.”

“I lost confidence and I had a hard time. But now I think the experience has helped me appreciate and enjoy my life more.”

Soldado also adds that he moved back to Spain to start enjoying his football again. While he’s yet to return to the kind of form he showed at Valencia, he has two goals to his name already.
