Robbie Brady powers home one of the biggest goals in the history of Irish football

They've done it

It was never going to be easy, was it?

Ireland knew that if they were to stay in France beyond the group stages, they’d have to beat Italy – the last side left in the competition with a 100% record.

After a few questionable refereeing decisions went against them in the first half, some might have thought their chance had gone.

But with just minutes remaining up stepped Robbie Brady to nod home one of the biggest goals in the history of Irish football.

Its architect, Wes Hoolahan had not long spurned what seemed to be *the* big chance for Ireland to win the match.

The one goal was enough and Ireland claim a famous, famous victory.
