Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand poked fun at Joleon Lescott for taking the money at Manchester City
Joleon Lescott was a panelist on BT Sport's pre-match coverage of Manchester City's Champions League second round trip to Schalke on Wednesday night and Rio Ferdinand didn't miss an opportunity to poke fun at the club's mega spending when Lescott said the City players used their 'mercenary' accusations as motivation.

"We had that motivation of players and pundits and fans only assuming we went there for money. No one assumed that we were going there to try and win the title..."
Ferdinand then interrupted: "You went there as well for that no?"
Lescott continued: "It helps! It helps! That was the only reason we went to the club - it wasn't to win the Premier League and try and create something that is happening now - and it's a huge credit to everyone at the club.
"There was added motivation. Mark Hughes didn't get enough time for me personally we had a kind of respect for him as a group of players for going to bat for us and get us to the club. We would have liked to have had him as a long-term manager."
