Reports in Spain claim Alvaro Morata to Manchester United is a done deal for £64m

It's all been agreed

JOE

They’ve finally caught a big one.

We’ve only into the second week of June and Manchester United fans are already getting jittery. They thought Antoine Griezmann was in the bag, but then came Atletico Madrid’s transfer ruling and that kibosh’d that. Then there was plenty of talk of Monaco hotshot Kylian Mbappé, but that soon petered away as other clubs made actual bids of nine digits – and still rebuffed.

All the while Manchester City are announcing major signings here, there and everywhere. The Old Trafford faithful are growing impatient and want their summer spending to begin in earnest. Thus far they have remained healthily sceptical of rumours of a move for Torino’s Andrea Belotti or Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata, because they smack of yet more hollow paper bunkum.

But now it looks like the latter is actually happening. We previously reported that the Spaniard had agreed to join former mentor Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford, but negotiations have advanced rapidly, and now Spanish radio station Onda Cero are reporting as fact that a deal is all agreed. The player will pen a 5-year-deal, and will cost United are hefty £64m (€73m).

They go on to say that the player will fly into Manchester on Monday of next week to complete the move. The player will replace the outgoing Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and Ed Woodward can then start working his way down the rest of his very expensive shopping list.
