France Football has broken the news that Mahrez has rejected an improved contract offer from Leicester. Despite being told the PFA Player of the Year is content at the club, by Ranieri, The Guardian are now confident enough in their sources to run a lead story on his exit.
Mahrez was signed from Le Havre for £375,000 and has been as resounding success at the club.
In May, Kamel Bengougam, Mahrez' agent,
commented, "They will be playing in the Champions League so he would be happy to stay. But at his age, if the opportunity comes to play for a big team, then we would have to think about it. I’d say it’s 50/50 at the moment whether he stays or goes."
