And they were dealt a further blow with the news that last season's top scorer, Diafra Sakho, has been arrested on suspicion of witness intimidation and threats to kill, less than a month after a separate arrest following allegations of assault.
A spokesman for the player told the
Sun: "Diafra Sakho has not been charged with any offence.
“He vigorously denies the allegations that have been made against him, and has given the police a complete explanation of events."
