Fulham travelled to Spain yesterday, to face Malaga for the pre-season Costa del Sol Trophy.
The Premier League side were 2-1 up heading into the last minute of normal time, before Calvin Bassey was deemed to have handled the ball in the box, allowing Eneko Jauregi to equalise from the penalty spot.
Cottagers boss, Álvaro Arbeloa, was then shown a red card for remonstrating with the referee, before heading down the tunnel with his players, who had no interest in completing a penalty shootout to decide the winner.
Malaga striker Jauregi subsequently picked up the ball and sarcastically hit a penalty into an empty net, before celebrating with his team in front of the home fans.
In a statement after the game, Fulham claimed that both sides had agreed not to have a shootout in the result of a draw.
They said: "Thank you for your excellent support in Malaga this evening!
"We can confirm that prior to the match, both teams agreed that there would not be a penalty shootout in the event of a draw."
However, Malaga didn't seem to agree with Fulham's claims, with the post-match report on their website stating: "Málaga drew 2-2 with Fulham in their final preseason fixture. Chupe and Jauregi (penalty) scored for Málaga. Fulham opted not to take part in the penalty shootout, meaning the 36th edition of the trophy stays at La Rosaleda."
