The two clubs have been the teams to beat in the top-flight

The Premier League’s two best clubs meet on Sunday in a game which could well decide where the league title ends up come the end of the season.

Manchester City face Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium with Pep Guardiola’s side currently top by just one point with only eight games remaining this season.

At one stage it looked as if City would run away with the title but Jurgen Klopp’s men have fought back resiliently to cut the gap and make this title race extra exciting.

Total domination

Liverpool and City are being touted as the two best sides in world football and it’s easy to see why. Over the course of the last four Premier League campaigns, no other side has accumulated more points than the two at the top.

A Twitter user posted a picture of the Premier League table across the last four seasons – recording every point picked up by sides competing in the top-flight during that time.

City and Liverpool are practically neck and neck with each other – City leading by just one point with 338 points in comparison to Liverpool’s 337.

The pair’s closest challenger is Chelsea, who are some 76 points away from even being level with Klopp’s reds – further documenting the gulf in glass City and Liverpool have against the rest of the Premier League.

Competing on more than one front

It’s not just the league the two north-west teams are competing for either. The pair will meet in the FA Cup semi-finals on April 16, while they also both already have one foot in the Champions League semi-finals after first leg wins against Atletico Madrid (Man City) and Benfica (Liverpool).

The crunch Premier League clash kicks off on Sunday at 4.30pm, and is surely one not to miss.

But despite the pressure surrounding the game, both manager’s have insisted that the title race will not be over, whatever the final score is.
