Plenty of supporters on Harry Redknapp’s side as Birmingham announce his departure

The Blues suffered six consecutive defeats

There’s a lot of sympathy out there for Harry Redknapp this evening.

The veteran manager has been sacked by Birmingham City after just eight Championship games this season.

Redknapp managed to keep the Blues afloat in England’s second tier last season, having taken charge of the club with three games remaining in the campaign.

Two victories towards the tail end of the season saw Birmingham finish two points above the relegation zone and Redknapp was soon offered a one-year deal to stay on at St Andrews.

Redknapp signed 14 players in the summer transfer window but six consecutive defeats this season has resulted in impatience and a decision to part company with the 70-year-old.

Saturday’s 3-1 home loss to Preston was the final straw and Redknapp finds himself out of work once again.

The dismissal comes just days after Frank de Boer was sacked by Crystal Palace following a 77-day tenure and it has left many Birmingham fans lamenting the lack of patience at their football club.
