Pitchside microphones picked up Jurgen Klopp’s sweary advice to players

Couldn't have put it better ourselves

Jurgen Klopp clearly lost his temper during Liverpool’s final preseason game.

The Reds eventually recorded a 3-1 victory over Athletic Bilbao in Dublin; with Roberto Firmino, Ben Woodburn and Dominic Solanke wrapping up the German’s preparations for his second full season at Anfield.

But it wasn’t all smooth sailing against the La Liga outfit and Klopp was visibly (or should we say audibly) frustrated at stages.

Fresh from criticising Atletico Madrid’s tactics midweek, Klopp assured supporters that: “Next week, the freshness will come back as normal.”

But he wasn’t exactly thrilled with what he saw on Saturday evening at the Aviva Stadium and let the players know all about it as he roared instructions at the from the sidelines.

Pitchside microphones picked up Klopp shouting: “August is too late to be playing like this… PLAY FUCKING FOOTBALL.”

After the game, when he’d managed to compose himself, the Reds boss insisted that he was happy with how his side’s preseason preparations had gone.

“Preseason has been really good. We played a lot of games and we didn’t lose one – that’s a good sign,” Klopp said, via the Liverpool Echo.

“There were two draws, okay one of them we lost on penalties to Atletico Madrid. Performance-wise most of the time it’s been good or even better.

“For half an hour today I’d say we played brilliant football. Then we lost organisation and gave them a few opportunities which changed the game a little bit. But perfection in preseason is the biggest mistake you can make.

“We know we have to be really concentrated to be really stable. When we are stable we can play really good football.

“In the second half with a very young side we struggled a bit at the beginning but then we started playing and it was nice to see.”
