Conor McGregor teases the latest hint about a fight with Floyd Mayweather

We can but dream.

Ridiculous as the notion sounded when first floated, the idea of Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather going head to head just won’t go away.

At various times over the last year or so, both McGregor and Mayweather have added fuel to the fire on social media, while McGregor obtaining a boxing licence in California only served to increase the hype about any potential fight.

The Notorious was at it again on Twitter on Christmas Eve, posting a tweet of a picture of himself and Mayweather with the caption ‘I’m going to break his face’.

While McGregor could well be giving his fans something to get excited about over Christmas, the timing of his post is interesting as it comes only a day after UFC President Dana White ridiculed the idea of a McGregor/Mayweather fight in an interview with TMZ Sports.

“It’s not happening. It will never happen,” White said.

“Let me tell you what, that fight will happen before Floyd walks up and tries to slap Conor, I promise you that, too,” White added, in reference to Mayweather’s claims that he would slap McGregor if he ever saw him.

“His (Mayweather’s) hands are like peanut brittle, he has to wrap them a million times so he doesn’t break his hands. Floyd better hope he don’t run into Conor on the street. Let me tell you what, not only will Conor kick his ass, he’ll kick the shit out of every one of his security guards, too.”

“I would love to be there when Floyd tries to slap Conor McGregor,” White added.

“I promise you, Floyd, you will never try to walk up and slap Conor McGregor and you know it too.”

Something tells us we haven’t heard the last of this one yet.
