'This sh***storm of a government'

Phillip Schofield was forced to apologise to viewers after actor Martin Clunes swore live on This Morning during an angry rant. Clunes was appearing on the show to promote a new three-part drama Manhunt, which follows the investigations into the serial killer Levi Bellfield, who brutally murdered Millie Dowler, Marsha McDonnell and Amélie Delagrange. Clunes, who plays the leading cop in the investigations, took time out from speaking about the show to bemoan the "s****storm government cuts" to policing, as he now understands first hand the amount of resource they require. Speaking to Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby on This Morning, he explained how the role "opened his eyes" to the work the police do, saying: "How many people and how much energy there is on [the force] - we thought it was a good time maybe to tell that story. “I was playing the SIO, so I wanted to see how the rest of the team were towards him - how he was towards him. We filled our boots and you come away thinking: Thank god we’ve got a police force. “Which we won’t have if this current sh**e-storm of a government have their way.” https://twitter.com/gullyburrows93/status/1082241640851533824 Schofield looked shocked and promptly apologised for Clunes' language and if viewers didn't share Clunes' thoughts. Viewers were largely supportive of Clunes' comments, though. One said: "Nahhhhhhh martin clunes just called the government a literal “sh***storm” live on tv , holly held in her laugh, Schofe looked bemused and i literally can not applaud him enough , yes martin # thismorning" https://twitter.com/sehsmiffy/status/1082236728155561985 Another said: "Thank god we’ve got a police force ... but we won’t have if this current sh*** storm of a government have their way” oh my god I love Martin Clunes even more @ thismorning # martinclunes #thismorning"
