Football fans have demonstrated their ability to produce countless genuinely witty player-inspired chants down the years.
On this occasion, this offering from some Arsenal supporters falls short. Well short.
To the tune of the Macarena, the supporters have devised their very own Per Mertesacker chant.
Why is it so terrible? Well, for starters, the lyrics aren’t exactly the most imaginative.
He’s six foot six and his name is Mertesacker,
He’ll knock you out and his name is Mertesacker,
Arsenal’s number four and his name is Mertesacker,
Hey, Mertesacker!
But the fact that it’s accompanied with a few dance moves increases the cringe factor considerably.
