As well as calling the action as it happens, you have to been snappy and entertaining, and make it sound exciting.
In the heat of the moment, you can easily start a sentence without knowing exactly where it is going. Which is what makes clip from BBC’s Final Score so good.
As Emre Can opened the scoring for Liverpool against Brighton on Saturday, they cut to commentator Chris Wise who was covering the game at the Amex Stadium. Excitedly, Wise begins to describe Can as “The German……” and then eventually just trails off with “….man.”
