Paul Clement takes dig at Darren Bent's weight after forward's criticism

Well that's absolutely brutal from Paul Clement.

Most managers claim that they tune out all negative remarks because they only serve to make a tough job more difficult.

But Clement does not appear to be in that group as he seems to have sought out comments after Reading fell to a 2-1 defeat to Derby on the opening day of the new Championship season.

With Clement facing off with his former side, ex-Derby striker Darren Bent was on punditry duty for Sky Sports and provided some insight into why the 46-year-old lasted less than a season at Pride Park.

"It was inevitable he [Clement] was going to crumble at Derby," Bent said of his former manager.

"Training had changed and his philosophy from pre-season had gone out the window because we weren’t getting the right results.

"And ultimately he didn’t really like confrontation."

Bent, who remains without a club after being released by the Rams last season, clearly had his issues with Clement and the now-Reading manager seemingly had his fair share of problems with the forward too.

Clement must have typed his own name into Twitter's search engine because he wasn't tagged in the tweet which included Bent's comments.

And on Saturday morning, he responded in brutal fashion.

Clement accused Bent of being "overweight and lazy" in a savage tweet from his personal account and, on the very possible chance that it gets deleted, here's a screenshot of the post.
