O'Shea was a product of Manchester United's youth system and went on to make over 250 appearances for the club. Amongst other titles, he played his part in five of the club's Premier League title successes.
In search of regular first team football, he left for Sunderland in 2011. The club were relegated from the Premier League in 2017 and O'Shea was unable to prevent them slipping into the third tier of English football last season, finishing bottom of the Championship.
