One of the UFC’s brightest rising stars sends worrying post regarding his future

Uh oh

Ben Kiely

First he teased us with retirement, now Aljamain Sterling is claiming the UFC told his manager to “shop around”.

We may have seen the last of the undefeated bantamweight (12-0, 4-0 UFC) in the world’s biggest MMA promotion.

Sterling, who scored a sublime second round submission victory over Johnny Eduardo at UFC Fight Night 80, revealed on Instagram that he could be leaving the promotion.

“Funk Master” claimed that the promotion’s big wigs told his manager that he was “good to start shopping around”, hinting that he could become a free agent.

This comes not long after he warned everyone that if he wasn’t able to book a fight, he may take a break from MMA to pursue a master’s degree in health.

Here’s hoping the UFC do everything in their power to keep this starlet on the roster.
