They’ve become the first parent and child duo to both play for Manchester United

History was made during Manchester United women’s FA Cup win away against Bridgwater on Sunday after Karna Solskjaer made her debut for the club.

The young Norwegian came off the bench – meaning that she and her father, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, are the first parent and child duo to play for United.

United’s legendary striker and former manager was in attendance at the FairFax Stadium to watch the proud moment for both himself and the club as the Women’s Super League side booked their place in the fifth round of the FA Cup.

The 48-year-old has kept a low profile since his dismissal from Old Trafford but was seen posing for pictures with fans and was in good spirits alongside his family down in Somerset.

Over 2,000 fans packed into the stadium with those travelling supporting United chanting “we want Karna on” to show their appreciation for the youngster.

Just days before the game, Karna’s father was seen supporting the 19-year-old during a youth game against Aston Villa where she managed to get herself on the scoresheet, before being called up to the senior squad.

A first-half own goal from Charlotte Buxton before Ella Toone’s strike eight minutes from time ensured Marc Skinner’s men avoided a potential cup upset.
