Now even centre-backs are scoring screamers against struggling Leicester City

When your luck's out...

When your luck’s out, it’s really out.

Leicester City have had a woeful start to 2017, failing to win or even score a goal in their first five league games of the calendar year.

They briefly stopped the rot with an extra-time victory over Derby County in their FA Cup fourth round replay, but a return to Premier League action saw them revert to type for the first 45 minutes at Swansea’s Liberty Stadium.

One sign of a team in a slump is the concession of unlikely goals to unlikely players, and Leicester fit the bill there.

So, while Swansea’s danger-men of late have been Gylfi Sigurdsson and Fernando Llorente, it was inevitable that the home side’s goals would come from less likely sources.

You know, like an unstoppable volley from 23-year-old ex-Barnsley centre-back Alfie Mawson.

Okay, these things happen. But conceding to Martin Olsson as well would be a bit much, right? After all, he’s only scored a dozen goals for club and country in his entire career.

Surely that would be a stretch? Apparently not.
