The Brazilian will reportedly remain in Paris until 2027
Neymar has reportedly exercised an option to extend his contract at Paris Saint-Germain, despite speculation that he was set to leave the club.
The 30-year-old has been linked with a number of club this summer – including Chelsea and Newcastle – following reports that the Parisians told the Brazilian that he was no longer needed at Le Parc des Princes.
Kylian Mbappe recently signed a new deal with PSG worth a staggering £650,000 a week – with many speculating that the Frenchman is now able to have a say in the club’s sporting decisions.

As reported by RMC Sport, Neymar has been told he is surplus to requirements ahead of the new season as PSG look for a fresh start. The former Barcelona man, who clashed with club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi earlier this summer, was expected to leave the club in this transfer window.
Neymar opts to ‘extend PSG deal’
However, Sport claim that the Brazilian has instead chosen to exercise the option in his contract which would keep him in the French capital until 2027.
Neymar – who extended his previous deal in 2021 – is currently under contract until 2025, and it is thought that the 30-year-old is earning £24m-a-year. Therefore, it would take a significant transfer fee to secure the attacker’s signature.
He registered 13 goals and eight assists in 28 appearances during PSG’s title-winning campaign last season, but spent time on the sidelines between December and February after suffering an ankle injury.
Speaking about Neymar, Al-Khelaifi told Le Parisien: “A possible departure of Neymar this summer? What I can tell you is that we expect all players to do a lot more than last season. A lot more!”
