Newcastle set to miss out on yet another transfer target

Yet more disappointment for Newcastle fans

Those poor fans

Rafa Benítez has complained of a lack of expenditure from Newcastle owner Mike Ashley recently, and revealed that he has no idea what’s going on with the Toon’s transfer strategy. But The Sun are today reporting that the club have launched a £6m bid plus £3m in add-ons for or Paris Saint-Germain defender Stanley N’Soki.

However, after today’s Trophée des Champions match, which PSG won 4-0 against Monaco, it looks like the player is set to remain in Paris and Newcastle will have to look elsewhere for a defender.

N’Soki picked up two assists from left wing-back during the 4-0 thrashing in France’s equivalent of the Community Shield and the general feeling in France is that newly appointed coach Thomas Tuchel will want to keep hold of the 19-year-old.

He made just one league appearance for PSG last season, but looks likely to be more involved this term as Tuchel places his faith in youth.

It is another disappointment for Newcastle, though thhey have already signed Ki Sung-yueng, Yishinori Mutō, Fabian Schar, and retained Chelsea’s Kenedy for another loan, this time to last the whole season.
