Nemanja Matić trolls Bruno Fernandes over Portugal non-goal vs Serbia

Nemanja Matic couldn't resist poking a bit of fun at his Manchester United teammate after Portugal were denied a goal against Serbia at the weekend

Excellent photoshop work

Portugal were denied a late winner against Serbia on Saturday night, as Cristiano Ronaldo’s shot was judged to have been cleared off the line despite many replays suggesting it should have stood.

Unfortunately for Portugal, the lack of goal line technology or VAR meant that the officials didn’t feel they could award the goal, and the game finished 2-2, leading to one of Cristiano Ronaldo’s all time great tantrums.

This sort of event in football will always prompt feisty comments, as some indulge in schadenfreude while others bemoan a great injustice, questioning the integrity of the game.

Nemanja Matić was of course part of the first group, as the former Serbia international made sure his Portuguese teammate Bruno Fernandes came back to a message mocking the non-goal upon his return to the Man United dressing room.

Posting the prank to his Instagram story, Matić revealed a doctored image of the incident, with the ball moved back to make the clearance look legitimate. We can’t be sure whether Matić did the photoshopping himself, or whether he got assistance, but either way it’s brilliant.

“Just on the line. Is it all clear now?” Matić wrote.

Hopefully Bruno Fernandes takes the joke better than Ronaldo took the decision at the time.
