First Glen Johnson – now Barcelona are being linked with a swoop for Liverpool’s Nathaniel Clyne

Barcelona have a back-up plan if their pursuit of Glen Johnson fails, and it could be bad news for Liverpool fans (it probably won't be though).

The Catalan club are reportedly in the market for a new right-back, and have identified Nathaniel Clyne as the man to fill the void left by Dani Alves, according to The Express. Barcelona have used Sergi Roberto and Alex Vidal in the position this season, but Luis Enrique is understood to be unconvinced by either. Clyne's good form for Liverpool, a price of £20m and the fact he isn't cup tied for European football this season makes him a potential option, according to the report. https://twitter.com/benwebblfc/status/790978400647254016?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw Clyne has been an ever-present since signing for Liverpool in 2015 from Southampton for £12.5m. The England defender made 52 appearances last season and is the undisputed first-choice in his position for Jurgen Klopp's side. It's unlikely that Liverpool would be willing to sell Clyne though, and his contract runs until 2020, but the link does at least make a lot more sense than Barcelona moving for the 25-year-old's predecessor at right-back for Liverpool. Earlier this week, it was reported by Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo that Barca were eyeing a new right-back, and naturally thought of Stoke City's Glenn Johnson. https://twitter.com/SportsJOE_UK/status/791568872688095232 FFL new
