“Naby Keita is worth breaking our transfer record for,” says Liverpool fan who watched YouTube compilation

The fan admitted that he had his doubts before watching 180 seconds of Keita in action

A Liverpool fan who has watched more than half of a single Naby Keita Skills – Goals – Tricks compilation video on YouTube believes that the club should break their transfer record on the midfielder.

Keita, a box-to-box midfielder who has massively impressed during his time at Red Bull Leipzig, has been linked with a host of major European sides this summer, with Liverpool reportedly taking a particular interest in him.

Previously unconvinced by the Guinean midfielder he had described as a “fraud”, 17-year-old supporter Alex Hedge revealed that the 180 seconds he spent watching footage of Keita’s best moments from last season had totally changed his opinion.

He also insisted that it was time for the Merseyside club to “step up to the plate and start paying the big bucks” for players who possess the rare quality of the one he had just watched three minutes of.

“You have to admit you were wrong”

“Usually when I have an opinion I stick to it,” said the student and ardent Reds fan. “I wasn’t sure about this guy and I thought little would change that. But when you see the consistent quality of a player – as I did in the stellar half of the YouTube compilation I watched – you have to admit you were wrong.”

While the young fan admitted that it is no laughing matter to break a club’s transfer record by more than £25 million, he stressed that sometimes you have to do just that to acquire top players.

“Those of us that truly know what kind of player he is know that this will not be money wasted. I know many people will still have doubts,” he added. “If that is the case I would suggest that they also watch three minutes of a compilation video to truly alleviate their concerns.”

A plea to the club

Such is the strength of Hedge’s feeling on the player, he has urged Liverpool’s management to do all they can to secure the transfer of the player.

“Just watch this video,” he told the club in a direct reply to one of its tweets earlier today. “Just watch it, and you’ll know what I mean.
