Look away now, Ireland fans.

Martin O’Neill’s team will take on Bosnia and Herzegovina in the Euro 2016 play-offs, and when they do so they will come up against arguably the most in-form free-kick taker in European football.

Before Roma’s Champions League game against Bayer Leverkusen, much of the talk surrounded the German team’s midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu – widely regarded as Cristiano Ronaldo’s successor as the world’s best dead-ball specialist.

But Pjanic proved it’s still very much up for debate with this stunner to put the Italians 3-2 up in a topsy-turvy 4-4 draw.

This was anything but a one-off, too. It’s the fourth time the former Lyon man has found the net from a free-kick this season, and all four strikes were relatively similar.

Back in August he helped see off champions Juventus…

He followed it up with this deft effort against Carpi…

… before holding down the power bar a bit longer in the victory over Empoli.

How will the likes of John O’Shea deal with him in November?
