Salah wants revenge

Mohamed Salah has revealed that he would prefer to face Real Madrid in the Champions League final after Liverpool beat Villarreal on Tuesday night.

The Reds recovered from a first half scare after goals from Boulaye Dia and Francis Coquelin brought the ‘Yellow Submarine’ level on aggregate.

Liverpool came out of the traps in the second half however after goals from Fabinho, Luis Diaz and Sadio Mané ensured Jurgen Klopp’s side booked their place in the final in Paris.

After the game Salah spoke to BT Sport, and was asked about who he would rather face out of Manchester City and Real Madrid – who will compete for their place in the final on Wednesday night.

And the Egyptian admitted that he would rather face Carlo Ancelotti’s Madrid as opposed to their Premier League rivals for one thing and one thing only: revenge.

“I want to play Madrid in the final,” he said. “City are a really tough team and we’ve played against them a few times this season but if you ask me personally I would prefer Madrid.

“They beat us in the final already so let’s play them again.”

The winger also admitted that the prospect of playing in a third Champions League final within the space of five years is a real achievement for the club and that they want to win for the fans.

“I don’t think you have to think about it, you just take it day by day and game by game,” he said.

“The most important thing is to work hard, stay in your way, don’t listen to anyone, just know your target, set a goal in your mind and go from there.

Liverpool are still within a chance of winning a historic quadruple. Having already won a League Cup, the Reds are still competing for the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League.
