He has spoken ahead of tomorrow’s Champions League clash at Atalanta.
Mikel Arteta has provided a huge injury update on Arsenal’s Martin Odegaard ahead of tomorrow’s Champions League clash against Atalanta.
Speaking to the press ahead of the Gunners opener, Arteta addressed the situation around Riccardo Calafiori, why Arsenal struggled away in Europe last season and Odegaard’s injury situation.
Speaking on Calafiori, Arteta stated that he was able to train today and will be in the squad for the game.
When questioned on why the team struggled in Europe last season, the Gunners gaffer stated:
“If we want to be at the level we want to be we have to be really good on the road and at home. We have to continue to be very consistent. In Europe it’s very tough to win just like in the Premier League. Hopefully we can be better.
“You don’t know the opponents that well and then boxes become crucial. There are small moments that define the games. In Europe you’d better be at your best.”
Then when quizzed on the injury situation with Odegaard, Arteta was straight to the point:
“After recent scans the scans showed that he’s got some damage especially on one of the ligaments in the ankle. It’s something quite significant so we’re going to lose him for a while.”
The Gunners get their Champions League campaign underway tomorrow and will be wanting to go that bit further this time around as they aim for European glory.
