Michael Bisping channels inner Jamie Vardy to troll ‘Jacare’ after defeat in Kansas City

Priceless

He might not be the greatest middleweight champion of all time but we’ll be damned if there’s a former 185lbs champ better at talking up fights than Michael Bisping.

Before Conor McGregor’s shit-talking turned him into the biggest draw in combat sports, Bisping was Europe’s answer to Chael Sonnen in the trash-talking department.

‘The Count’ knows how to sell fights, pure and simple, and his way with words makes him must-see television as he gets under his opponents’ skin like no other.

We know that welterweight great Georges St-Pierre is next up for the Manchester middleweight but while that super-fight, which remains without a date, takes place, we’re left with something of a logjam in the 185lbs division.

St-Pierre was given the opportunity to leapfrog most fight fans’ pick for the rightful number one contender in Yoel Romero while another of Bisping’s potential challengers, Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza was brutally knocked out by Robert Whittaker on Saturday night, putting the Australian youngster firmly in the title picture.

In the wake of that upset at UFC on Fox 24, Bisping took to Twitter to offer a priceless take on Souza’s defeat as he referenced a famous quote from Leicester striker Jamie Vardy to take the piss out of the Brazilian.

And in a move that will further frustrate Romero, Bisping has since come out on his podcast Believe You Me and proclaimed Whittaker as the more deserving next challenger for his middleweight title.

“I see Robert as a more worthy contender,” Bisping said.

“He stopped ‘Jacare’. Romero didn’t stop ‘Jacare’ and Robert hasn’t tested positive for steroids so, really, I think it should be Robert next.”
