A probationary Met Police officer has been removed from duties and placed in a non-public facing role after allegedly sharing an "inappropriate graphic" during the search for Sarah Everard.
Everard was abducted on March 3rd while walking home through Clapham. Human remains found in woodland in Kent were confirmed as hers on March 10th. A different serving police officer is facing trial for her kidnap and murder.
The Met Police have they a number of officers were concerned by the 'inappropriate graphic', which was shared to social media, and reported it.
The matter has been referred to the the Independent Office for Police Conduct, with enquiries ongoing.
The Met have clarified that the graphic shared does not contain photographic images, nor any material obtained in relation to the search for Sarah Everard's body.
Assistant Commissioner Nick Ephgrave said: "The MPS expects its officers to behave professionally at all times and this includes how they use social media.
"I take allegations that any officer or officers have failed to observe these standards very seriously and have referred this matter to the IOPC."
