Speaking to Spox, the Arsenal man explained that the he had spoken to Sane about playing in the Premier League before the 20-year-old made his move.
“Naturally, the Premier League was a topic we discussed several times," Ozil said.
"I told Leroy that I regard it as the best league in the world and that young players can develop well there.
“That is why I was happy for him when the transfer materialised. He will improve a lot under Pep Guardiola.”
Sane, who missed the preseason friendly with Ozil's Arsenal side with a hamstring injury, could make his bow for Pep Guardiola's new side in their Champions League qualifier with Steaua Bucharest next week.
