Mesut Ozil claims his Instagram was hacked after picture of ex-girlfriend is posted

What a weirdly personal hack

Usually “hacking” is the go-to excuse when a public figure wants to row back on a social media post.

But we definitely believe that the Instagram account of Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil was indeed compromised on Sunday evening.

In a creepy attempt to affect Ozil’s personal life, someone hacked into the 28-year-old’s Instagram and posted a photograph of Ozil with his ex-girlfriend in his arms.

“I know I messed up Mandy but will always love you @gracecapristo,” the caption read.

Ozil’s ex, Mandy Capristo, was even tagged in the post which was presumably aimed at causing trouble for the German international at home with his current partner, former Miss Turkey Amine Gulse.

The post remained public for roughly thirty minutes before it was noticed and deleted by Ozil, whose team are said to have regained control of the account.

Ozil put an end to the gossip by publishing a picture of himself with Gulse on a plane, tagging her at the end of the below caption.

“As you may have seen my account was hacked this evening.?? Thanks to my team and Instagram for assisting me today in getting control back of my Instagram. Sorry to the media but it’s time to kill the stories and false headlines now. The story is FAKE NEWS. ?☝? #fakeNews @gulseamine.”
