His current deal expires in 2021, but Wolves look set to offer him a new contract that will double his wages. Doherty had been working without an agent, with his father representing his interests.
Both reports claim that Jorge Mendes, the so-called "super-agent" who represents Cristiano Ronaldo and José Mourinho among others, is working on the deal for Doherty. Mendes has close links to Wolves and also represents the club's manager.
The new deal for Doherty will scupper any interest Tottenham have in the player. Spurs are said to be interested in signing Doherty and are understood to be monitoring his contract situation. The 26-year-old helped Wolves record a 3-1 win over Tottenham at Wembley recently.
