Manchester United’s summer shortlist revealed as massive bid for Kylian Mbappe is rejected

Kylian Mbappe has caught the attention of every big European club with his performances.

The 18-year-old has scored 24 goals in 39 games for AS Monaco this season, helping his side to the Champions League semi-final and to the verge of winning the French league title. Mbappe appears to have the potential to become one of the best players in the game, and, when he does eventually leave Monaco, it could be for a world record fee. Monaco seem to be holding out for a world record fee as, according to the Guardian, they have rejected a £72m bid for the 18-year-old from Manchester United. Jose Mourinho has reportedly made Mbappe one of his main transfer targets for the upcoming window, along with Antoine Griezmann. United desperately need a new striker. Zlatan Ibrahimovic is out of contract in the summer and out injured until next year and Wayne Rooney appears to be in his final months at Old Trafford. That leaves Marcus Rashford as the club's only established centre-forward. However, they will seemingly have to increase their bid to land Mbappe. Monaco are said to want at least £100m for the talented forward, but want to keep him at the club for another season as his value will continue to grow. They seems like a wise strategy. If Mbappe has another brilliant season, and stars for France at the 2018 World Cup in Russia, his transfer valuation could exceed more than £120m. Mbappe is said to prefer a move to Real Madrid, but it is understood that the Spanish club have yet to make their interest known to Monaco. The Guardian also report that United are interested in signing Fabinho and Tiemoune Bakayoko, Mbappe's teammates at Monaco. Toni Kroos, the Real Madrid and Germany midfielder, and Roma's Radja Nainggolan are said to be the other players wanted by Mourinho this summer.
