Manchester United legend is sole Premier League player in Raul’s dream team

He's left himself out

He may bleed white but Raul couldn’t, in all good conscience, leave Lionel Messi out of his dream team.

The Real Madrid icon is one of the greatest goalscorers of all time but he was humble enough to leave himself out of the front line in favour of two of the most talented players ever to grace La Liga.

Raul selected perennial Ballon d’Or tug-of-war competitors Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo up top in his dream XI, as reported by Marca.

Former Real Madrid teammates Luis Figo, Zinedine Zidane and Fernando Redondo dominate the Spaniard’s midfield, with Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs claiming his place on the left wing.

Real Madrid v Villarreal

Long-time AC Milan servants Cafu and Paolo Maldini take their spots in defence, as well as Real heroes Fernando Hierro and Roberto Carlos.

Some eyebrows may be raised at the sight of Manuel Neuer in goal as Raul seems to have overlooked long-time colleague, at club and international level, Iker Casillas between the sticks.

Still, this team would take some beating.
