Manchester United could be about to have their busiest month for a long time

Jose Mourinho will be delighted.

Manchester United may have to play up to nine games in April, due to their involvement in the Europa League and the FA Cup.

Mourinho’s side are due to play six Premier League games in the month, at home to West Brom, Everton, Chelsea, and Swansea City, and away to Sunderland and Burnley.

But, if they advance past FC Rostov in the Europa League in March, they could end up playing nine games in April, as the match away to Manchester City has to be played.

The Manchester derby was due to be played last weekend, but it was pushed back until a later date, due to United’s involvement in the EFL Cup final. The date for United’s league game away to Southampton also has to be confirmed.

Here’s the games United are due to play next month:

  • Saturday, April 1: vs West Brom
  • Tuesday, April 4: vs Everton
  • Sunday, April 9: vs Sunderland
  • Sunday, April 16: vs Chelsea
  • Sunday, April 23: vs Burnley
  • Sunday, April 30: vs Swansea

And, if United advance to the quarter finals of the Europa League, they will play the first-leg on Thursday, April 13, with the return leg a week later.

The game against City could be played on April 26, according to Manchester Evening News.

If Mourinho’s team reach the semi-finals of the FA Cup, it’ll be played on the weekend of April 22 and 23. Meaning the game against Burnley will have to be played at a later date.

If they get through all those games in-tact, the first two games in May will be away to Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.

However, they’ve a big squad, and playing so many games at this stage of the season means they’re doing something right.

We doubt Mourinho, publicly at least, will look at it that way.

The last time the club played so many games in April was the 2010/11 season, when they had eight fixtures.
