Another day, another new kit
We cannot seem to go an hour at the moment without a new kit being dropped somewhere in the world. It’s one the things that makes the break between the end of the summer and the beginning of the football season palatable.
Today has seen the unveiling of Manchester City’s new away kit which was revealed by the club on its Twitter account this morning.
Accompanied by a rendering of star midfielder Kevin De Bruyne wearing it on the pitch, the new kit will undoubtedly delight City fans everywhere.

A close look will bring a feeling of reminiscence among readers, well, those who are old enough to remember what it resembles, because the shirt borrows heavily from one of City’s most famous kits ever.
That kit, seen below, was worn by the Citizens during their momentous Division 2 (now League One) play-off final victory over Gillingham at the end of the 1998/99 season.

While it has altered the order of the colours, the new kit features the dark navy, baby blue and luminous green of that famous kit, bringing the design into a more modern era with three neat and thin stripes down the centre of the jersey, and two more under the arms.
While lovers of all things retro may still prefer the old kit over Manchester City’s new away kit, it’s a nice touch to see the club and Nike make the effort to remember the club’s history in such a way.
