Man Utd transfer news: Boost in chase for PSG's Ibrahim Mbaye

Manchester United have been given a clear path to pursue PSG starlet Ibrahim Mbaye after rivals Liverpool reportedly opted against a deal, giving United a late transfer window advantage.

However, both Premier League sides aren’t the only European top flights interested in the Senegalese winger.

Bayern Munich, Porto, RB Leipzig, Bayer Leverkusen, Borussia Dortmund, Roma and Aston Villa are all reportedly made inquiries to PSG regarding the player.

The Reds have shown a lot of interest in acquiring Bradley Barcola in a deal involving Ibrahim Mbaye, sending both players to Liverpool.

Iraola however is said to have stepped away from the deal as negotiations for both Barcola and Mbaye have led to costs of £171 million.

Liverpool, however, remain in talks with the French capital to sign Barcola before the transfer window closes.

Reports suggest that PSG valued Mbaye at £34.2 million, to as high as £42.7 million, a price Liverpool deems excessive leading to their interest quietly dropping.

The European champions have reportedly reached an agreement with Barcelona to sign the sole scorer in the World Cup final, Ferran Torres, in a £42.7 million deal, according to The Athletic.

A situation United could look to capitalise on with a quiet signing activity over the summer.

Ferran Torres’ arrival at the Parcs des Princes is only set to limit Mbaye’s opportunity on the pitch.

Mbaye came about last weekend in a pre-season match against United, finding the net in a 1-1 draw.

Yet, the youngster did not make an appearance on the pitch during the European Super Cup final against Villa on Wednesday.

Should Mbaye join Michael Carrick’s side over the summer, he will be linked with the likes of Rashford to operate on the left flank, a position he has shown being comfortable in.

United are set to face AC Milan in a pre-season venture on Saturday at 3:45pm, a match that could see Rashford making his return to the club after a loan spell in Barcelona.
