Manchester United have responded to Cristiano Ronaldo's interview with Piers Morgan with a statement that is literally not as long as this sentence.
United had said earlier in the week that they would consider their response to the interview 'when the full facts had been established'.
Sure enough, after the final instalment of the interview aired on Thursday, United have indeed responded, saying:
'Manchester United has this morning initiated appropriate steps in response to Cristiano Ronaldo’s recent media interview.'
What the appropriate steps are are unclear at this point, with United making clear they won't be putting any further lengthy statements out for the time being.
Reports have claimed United are considering terminating Ronaldo's contract due to the nature of some of the comments made about the club's owners and his manager, Erik ten Hag.
