Manchester United want to keep Old Trafford even if plans to build the exceptional state-of-the-art £2billion stadium go through.
Originally, it was thought that the prospect of a new "Wembley of the North" would mean removing Old Trafford.
However, the club are now considering a scaled-down version of Old Trafford alongside the new arena, in order to preserve the club's history and also provide a full-time home for the women's and academy teams.
The 75,000 seated stadium would be reduced to a single tier stadium closer to 30,000, as per Mail Sport.
Many of the most important features of Old Trafford would remain, such as the Munich clock that commemorates the 1958 air disaster and statutes dedicated to Sir Matt Busby, Sir Alex Ferguson, Jimmy Murphy and the Holy Trinity of Sir Bobby Charlton, George Best and Denis Law.
So far around 30,000 fans have been spoken to regarding plans over a brand new stadium, with responses reportedly to be 50-50 regarding those in favour and those against.
